2016 – Rise and fall of two structures

Alzado y caída de dos estructuras [Rise and fall of two structures]. 2016

Action made at the “Aula Magna” of the Arcis University. Santiago, Chile

The Arcis University was a prestigious institution that grew to unsustainable levels and then fell precipitously until bankruptcy. The “Aula Magna” (Great Hall) was a large abandoned room half built, empty and with the floor covered in dust accumulated for years. Next to this room was a patio where discarded construction materials were piled up. Some of these materials were used to build two large boards, which were installed on the floor of the space. The “Aula Magna ” was not modified.
The action consisted of lifting the boards to the vertical position and then letting them fall.
